Insider Tip - summer is a great time to vacation at an outstanding Arizona resort. According to Monica, no one does summer like the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess. The accommodations are more affordable in the summer and the Princess doesn’t lack on the activities and events for guests.
Jack Miller, general manager, gives his list of Top Five Must Do’s this summer at the Princess:
- Visit the brand new Sunset Beach. The beach is 850 tons of beautiful white sand surrounded by palm trees, creating shade for the perfect experience.
- Play in the water. Adults should enjoy the Well & Being Rooftop Pool at the spa, or hang out around the largest whirlpool in the valley at Princess Pool and Bar. Kids should experience the two 200 foot slides at Sonoran Splash.
- Satisfy hunger. The Princess restaurants are the best place to satisfy hungry appetites after a day of sun and fun. La Hacienda specializes in incredible Mexican food. Bourbon Steak is the place to go for steak and for sushi visit Toro for their specialty as well as Pan Latin.
- Meet Bixby and Gibbs. Upon arrival guests are greeted by the two resident dogs, Bixby and Gibbs, a Yellow Lab and Golden Retriever. They have a way of greeting guests, making them feel at home and taking the stress out of travel.
- Experience fireworks every Saturday night at 9:00. An exciting way to end the day.

Insider Tip-a great way to stay cool is to check out the six pools at the resort, starting off with the twisting water slides. This pool offers fun for the whole family. The Fairmont Fun Team keeps things fun with games and prizes for all ages. They are backed up by the music of DJ Splash.
Joining up with pirates is a new and unique experience this summer. Families and friends can take part in Dueling Pirate Ship Water Balloon Battles to skirmish back and forth on the 40 foot ships equipped with balloon launchers.
A guest favorite is the SplashRider X-treme, a never ending water slide. A giant orb rotates and provides splash fun creating the never ending water slide.
The Splash Pad at Sunset Beach is a favorite of the younger kids. They can enjoy the water and the sand.

When guests aren’t splashing in the pools they can take advantage of all the activities at the resort. The activities at the princess are a terrific way to create wonderful family memories.
In the morning join Ranger Rick for a Nature Walk where he will point out all the indigenous plants and animals on the property, including hawks and falcons and Cecil, the tortoise. Or join the Fishing Derby; it is another great way for parents and children to spend time together enjoying a nature activity.
Another thing new and special this summer is Mermaid University where guests ages 7-12 can become a certified mermaid. The class is taught by resident mermaid “Moon” at Sunset Beach. Those enrolled learn about the ocean and mermaid etiquette. Graduates receive a certificate, a fin, goggles and their own mermaid name.
For would be pirates ages 5-12 Swashbucklers Academy is offered at Sunset Beach. The class is taught by Cap’n Jack and all his pirate friends. It teaches students how to walk, talk and swordfight like a pirate. Students swagger away with a hat, sash, eyepatch, sword and diploma with their pirate name.
When the sun goes down the fun doesn’t stop. After dark the Princess can be experienced in a whole new light. The Techno Glo Parties, with lighted dueling 200 foot water slides, lasers, smoke machines, LED lights and DJ Splash. It is a big party and a lot of fun for families and kids.
The Dive-n Movies at Sunset Beach are another way to keep cool. Enjoy the water or sit in the sand and watch a family movie.

When it’s time for mom and dad to enjoy some grown-up time the Princess has that too. A Summer Beach Party at the Princess is a wonderful couples retreat or a girl’s weekend getaway. The Insider’s Guide offers grown-up fun too.
A great way to unwind is having cocktails by the pool. The Princess has cocktail curators and culinary geniuses to make a stay special.
La Hacienda has a Tequila Goddess and she is a certified expert in tequila. She educates guests about tequila and La Hacienda has one of the largest tequila selections, over 240 varieties, in the Valley from blanco to the most elite tequilas.
Toro Latin Restaurant and Rum Bar is all about rum and delicious food. The Rum Princesa will guide guests through over 150 types of rum. The rum comes from all over the world, with some being specially aged and some being very exclusive and elusive. The Toro is also known for their cocktails.
Bourbon Steak has a wonderful beverage program with a wine cellar housing over 3,000 bottles of wine to choose from. A sommelier is available to help guest make the right selection from both old world and new world wines. Guests are sure to find the perfect bottle. When it comes to bourbon, Bourbon Steak has its own exclusive Bullet Bourbon form Kentucky.
One of the most relaxing grown-up places to visit is the world renowned Well and Being Spa. It features fabulous and pampering treatments, a wellness team, and exercise classes with aerial hammock yoga. The rooftop pool and boutique are not to be missed. This summer, the Princess is bringing the spa to the pool with Express Mani & Pedi and Quench Services.
Shopping at the Princess is recreation and another way to spend the day. With shops like Anna J for women, Maverick for men, Reflections for poolside needs and Trailblazers Kids Club for rafts and toys, not to mention, The Sugar Shack, there is something for everyone.
The TPC Scottsdale is in the backyard of the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess. This summer there are some exclusive things for guests of the Princess. The Sunset Loop consists of five holes of golf and is casual and fun. It is a great way to end the day.

Another way to play some golf on the TPC is the after dark glow competition. It is a closest to the pin glow in the dark competition with prizes and bragging rights. The price is a great value, $5 for three balls.
For adults a best value is to purchase a service at Well and Being Spa and enjoy all of the amenities for the day. Amenities include an open-air rooftop pool with cabanas and the coed waterfall grotto. The waterfall massage therapy is natural and energizing. The fitness center, whirlpool, cold plunge pool, sauna and exercise classes are also included. Services are available to locals and overnight guests.
Some of the best values are offered over holiday weekends this summer. The Fourth of July Freedom Fest is a great show and included in the room rate. The weekend has a military vintage air show with parachutists.
