Seeing the Desert Botanical Garden in a whole new light strolling under the stars and taking in Bruce Munro’s Sonoran Light exhibit will take your breath away. You will see beauty and splendor in an extraordinary natural setting. DBG is an ever changing beautiful landscape that is enhanced by Munro’s lighting installation. This exhibit is visually stunning and a treat for the eyes. It is a wonderful way to spend time with family and friends or take some time to be alone and enjoy the desert.
Elaine McGinn of DBG describes the eight installations in the garden. Munro, a British artist, likes to use recycled items with fiber optics to create his pieces. When visitors enter the garden in the distance they see The Field of Light and wonder how to get to it. The installation is designed in a way to have visitors wander the garden, seeing other pieces on the way. Visitors pass Munro’s interpretation of a Saguaro, 60 Water-Towers created from recycled water bottles and fiber optics, a geodesic dome changing colors via fiber optics, and more. McGinn notes Munro likes visitors to be immersed in his work and this exhibit provides the setting to do so.
Bruce Munro: Sonoran Light can be experienced through May 8, 2016. Visit dbg.org for ticket information.
