Grand Canyon University Scholar Athlete of the Game: Mountain View
vs Mesa
Each game, Cox Communications and Grand Canyon University are proud to honor two players with the Grand Canyon University Scholar Athlete of the Game award. Tonight’s honorees are Zach Steiner of Mountain View and Kyle Tryon of Mesa. Zach has a 4.0 GPA, is a four year starter on the state champion volleyball team, is an eagle scout, youth leader, volunteers at a family homeless shelter, and has earned an AIMs scholarship to college. Kyle has a 3.4 GPA, runs hurdles, the 400, and high jumps on the track team, and volunteers at Trillium Specialty Hospital.
Grand Canyon University Scholar Athlete of the Game: Brophy at Chaparral
Each game, Cox Communications and Grand Canyon university are proud to honor players from each team with the Grand Canyon University Scholar Athlete award for outstanding on and off the court performance. Tonight’s honorees are the Brophy men’s basketball team and Zach Tolson of Chaparral. Brophy’s team GPA is 3.63 taking the highest academic level courses and by the time they graduate they will have accumulated over 1400 service learning volunteer hours. Zach has a 3.6 GPA with honors classes in math and Spanish, volunteers with under privileged children, collecting donation items, and running a sports camp.
Grand Canyon University Scholar Athlete: Paradise Valley at Arcadia
Each game, Cox Communications and Grand Canyon University are proud to honor two students with the Grand Canyon University Scholar Athlete of the Game. Tonight we are proud to honor Connor Euting of Paradise Valley and Cole Richardson of Arcadia. Connor has a 4.0 GPA taking honors classes and volunteers at St. Vincent de Paul food bank. He wants to study law and criminology in college. Cole has a 4.3 GPA, is getting his Eagle scout in Boy scouts, started at QB for the Titans football team for two seasons, and is in NHS.
Grand Canyon University Scholar Athlete: Desert Vista vs Mountain View
Each game Cox Communications and Grand Canyon University are proud to honor two student athletes with the Grand Canyon Scholar Athlete of the Game award. Tonight’s honorees are Kyle Pitman of Desert Vista and Jeff Kerr of Mountain View. Jeff has a 4.2 GPA, has played volleyball, is in NHS and Service Learning where he has volunteered over 150 hours at food drives, elementary schools, and Christmas for the needy. Kyle has a 4.7 GPA, is a setter on the volleyball team, is in NHS, and volunteers for the Salvation Army and as a Peer Tutor in math and science.
Grand Canyon University Scholar Athlete: South Sioux City vs
Corona del Sol
Each game Cox Communications and Grand Canyon University are proud to honor two student athletes with the Grand Canyon Scholar Athlete of the Game award. Tonight’s honorees are Kaden Moore of South Sioux City and Austin Millyard of Corona del Sol. Kaden has a 4.1 GPA, plays football and baseball, is in NHS and FCA, and volunteers at a homeless shelter and giving out Christmas baskets to the needy. Austin has a 4.1 GPA, has been in the Corona basketball program 4 years, and volunteers at Soreno Elementary School as a math and reading tutor. Congratulations to Kaden and Austin.

Grand Canyon University Scholar Athlete: Hamilton vs Mesquite
Each game, Cox Communications and Grand Canyon University are proud to honor two student athletes with the Grand Canyon University Scholar Athlete of the Game award. Tonights honorees are Eric Bryan of Hamilton and Hunter Williams of Mesquite. Eric has a 4.5 GPA, is in National Honor Society and French Club, and has volunteered at the Chandler Community Christian center and has read books to elementary school students in the CUSD district. Hunter has a 4.57 GPA ranking 17th in his class, plays football and volleyball, is an Eagle Scout, a member of NHS, and sings in the vocal and concert choirs.

Grand Canyon University Scholar Athlete: Arcadia at Thunderbird
Each game Cox Communications and Grand Canyon University are proud to honor two students with the Grand Canyon University Scholar Athlete award. Tonight’s recipients are Andrew Naderer of Arcadia and Connor George of Thunderbird. Andrew has a 3.8 GPA, is a 3 year varsity basketball player, 4 year varsity baseball player, and has volunteered over 50 hours for the Arcadia Service Learning Club. Connor has a 3.8 GPA, plays tennis, and is in Boys team charity where he volunteers at the Desert Mission Food Bank. Congratulations to Andrew and Connor.
Grand Canyon University Scholar Athlete: Flowing Wells at Tucson High
Each week Cox Communications and Grand Canyon University award two players with the Grand Canyon University Scholar Athlete of the Game award for outstanding on and off the field contributions. Tonight’s honorees are Rayvean Moore of Tucson High and Sabas Cruz-Miranda. Rayvean has a 3.75 GPA, member of the African-American Scholar Club, Behind the Lines Athletic Outreach, plays baseball, and volunteers at Ronald McDonald house and has organized a back pack drive for elemenatary students. Sabas has a 3.9 GPA, is in LINK Crew, is the student Vice-President at Tucson High, and is in the Jazz band.
Grand Canyon University Scholar Athlete: Boulder Creek at Desert Ridge
Each game, Cox Communications and Grand Canyon University honor two players with the Grand Canyon University Scholar Athlete of the Game award. Tonight’s honorees are Jordan Becerra of Desert Ridge and Jimmy Boulton of Boulder Creek. Jordan has a 4.2 GPA, runs track, was a first team all-state selection in 2010, and is in the Best Buddies Class at school. Jimmy has a 4.3 GPA, wrestles, was a first team all-Northwest region selection last year, is in NHS, Athletic Council, and volunteers as a youth wrestling and football mentor.
Grand Canyon University Scholar Athlete: Hamilton at Basha
Each week Cox Communications and Grand Canyon University are proud to honor two students with the Grand Canyon University Scholar Athlete of the game award. Tonight’s honorees are Justin Barber of Basha and Zack Phillips of Hamilton. Zack has a 4.67 GPA and has played varsity football two seasons. He is in the top 5% of his class. He is in NHS where he has volunteered at various school functions. Justin has a 4.29 GPA and is in the top 10% of his class. He is a member of the soccer team,NHS, FCA, and volunteers as a mentor/ coach in the Chandler Youth football league and has helped organize a backpack drive at church.
Grand Canyon University Scholar Athlete: Mountain Pointe at Corona del Sol
Each game Cox Communications and Grand Canyon University are proud to honor two players with the Grand Canyon University Scholar Athlete of the Game. Tonight’s honorees are Mikayle Holm of Mountain Pointe and Megan Reum of Corona del Sol. Mikayle has a 4.67 GPA ranking 7th in her class. She is in NHS, FCA, Latin Honor Society, and Mu Alpha Theta Math Club. She will attend ASU next year on the Aims Scholarship. Megan has a 4.13 GPA, is in NHS and National Charity League where she has volunteered for Paz de Christo, Hackett House, and the Chandler regional hospital. Congratulations to Mikayle and Megan, two outstanding scholar athletes.
Grand Canyon University Scholar Athlete: Cibola at Sunnyside
Each game, Cox Communications and Grand Canyon University are proud to honor two players with the Grand Canyon University Scholar Athlete of the Game award. Tonight’s honorees are Eleazar Rios of Sunnyside and Jacob Gauna of Cibola. Eleazar has a 3.5 GPA, has been student of the month at Sunnyside, is a member of HOSA (Health, Occupation, Students of America), plays trumpet in the Sunnyside Mariachi band, and was defensive player of the week against Cholla. Jacob has a 3.95 GPA…member of the National Honor Society…attended Boys State this past summer, cleaned and set-up a playground for a local preschool. and cleaned and painted a community park
Grand Canyon University Scholar Athlete: McClintock at Marcos de Niza
Each week, Cox7 and Grand Canyon University are proud to honor two players with the Grand Canyon University Scholar Athlete of the Game award. Tonight’s honorees are Ozo Cabrera of Marcos de Niza and Joe Sanford of McClintock.
Joe has a 3.4 GPA, is in Key Club, wrestles, runs track, and volunteers for “Sub for Santa” and doing inner city work. Ozo has a 4.1 GPA, was an “Anytown” representative last summer, volunteers for Chicanos Por la Causa, Best Buddies, and the Boys and Girls Club of Guadalupe. Congratulations to Joe and Ozo.

Each week Cox Communications and Grand Canyon University are proud to honor two students with the Grand Canyon University Scholar Athlete of the Game award for outstanding on and off the field contributions. Tonight’s honorees are Austin Ricks of Mountain View and Jonah Reinholz of Red Mountain. Austin has a 4.2 GPA, is a Toro LINK leader, and is in the Boy Scouts working on his Eagle scout. Jonah has a 3.6 GPA, plays baseball and track, and volunteers for Relay for Life and on Church missions to Indian reservations. Congratulations to Austin and Jonah.
Grand Canyon University Scholar Athlete of the Game: Westview vs St. Mary’s
Each game, Cox Communications and Grand Canyon University are proud to honor two students with the Grand Canyon University Scholar Athlete of the Game award for outstanding on and off the field contributions. Tonight, we honor Jacob Szostek of Westview and Justin Templeton of St. Mary’s. Jacob has a 3.89 GPA, is a four year soccer player, pole vaults and high jumps on the track team, is in NHS, and volunteers for GCC track meets and youth football camps. Justin has a 3.4 GPA, runs the 300 intermediate hurdles on the track team, and is a volunteer youth group coordinator and altar serve at his church. Congratulations to Jacob and Justin.

Each game, Cox Communications and Grand Canyon University are proud to honor two players with the Grand Canyon University Scholar Athlete award for outstanding on and off the field contributions. Tonight we honor Kyle Swartz of Chandler and Dillon Johnson of Mountain Pointe. Kyle has a 4.72 GPA, is the IB School President, wrestles, is in NHS tutoring, and volunteers reading at elementary schools. Dillon has a 3.5 GPA, runs track, is in FCA, and volunteers for Feed my Starving Children, Special Olympics, and Best Buddies.

Each game, Grand Canyon University and Cox Communications are proud to honor two players with the Grand Canyon Scholar Athlete of the Game award for outstanding on and off the field contributions. Tonight we honor Andrew Frisby of Sabino and Christian Orepeza of Sunnyside. Andrew has a 4.19 GPA, wrestles, and is NHS. Christian has a 4.08 GPA, ranking 4th in his class. Congratulations to Andrew and Christian, tonight’s Grand Canyon Scholar Athletes.

Each game, Grand Canyon University and Cox Communications are proud to honor two students with the Grand Canyon Scholar Athlete Award. Tonight’s honorees are AJ Clark of Apollo and Luke Parker of Centennial. AJ has a 3.64 GPA, has been to Haiti and Puerto Rico on mission trips, is in Hawktown, choir, NHS, and LINK. Luke has a 3.9 GPA, wrestles, is in NHS, and volunteers for Special Olympics and Youth football camps. Congratulations to AJ and Luke.

Each week Cox Communications and Grand Canyon University are proud to present the Grand Canyon University Scholar Athlete award to two outstanding players. Tonight’s honorees are Alex Muga of Mountain Ridge and Tyler Ellenberger of North Canyon. Alex has a 4.2 GPA, has played baseball, and volunteered for Pat’s Run, Honor Flight recognizing veterans of war, and Walk for Diabetes. Tyler has a 3.74 GPA, is a captain, 3 year varsity player, and volunteers at Youth Football Camps and other high school sporting events.

Each week Cox Communications is proud to present the Grand Canyon Scholar Athlete of the Game award. Tonight’s honorees are Scott Beaudoin of Thunderbird and Cameron Larson of Saguaro. Scott has a 4.8 unweighted GPA, plays baseball, is in Boy’s Team Charity, NHS, volunteers for the Special Olympics, and re-builds houses on church mission trips. Cameron has a 4.2 GPA, is in NHS, volunteers for the Cave Creek Youth football league, and is a Peer Tutor. Congratulations to Scott and Cameron, two outstanding scholar athletes.

Each game this season Cox Communications and Grand Canyon University will present the Grand Canyon University Scholar Athlete of the Game award to a deserving player from each team. Tonight’s honorees are Jordan Bronowitz of Chaparral and Jeff Gerlach from Salpointe Catholic. Jordan carries a 4.1 GPA and feeds the homeless at St. Vincent de Pauls. Jeff has a 4.1 GPA and volunteers for the Games for the Greater good at the Special Olympics and the Boys and Girls Club of greater Tucson.
